So the airline "terrorists", the ones that were arrested in England, didn't have tickets? Some didn't have passports? It seems that the rush to arrest is only going to hurt any possibility of making charges stick. It seems to me that everything is being exploited for someone's political gain. Both sides do it. But unfortunately the right has this annoying tendency to muscle up and start blasting the left for being weak on security. Remember the catcalls from years gone by - it was the same thing - weak on crime. Unless you present some kind of Rambo or Rambolina image, you are deemed soft and cowardly. What a lark! I honestly don't believe that any citizens in this country are going to fall for that again. They fell hard last time and now they have that embarassed - looking to all sides to see if anyone noticed - action going on.
To me politics right now is like the car industry. How many car commercials are we going to see about a car becoming a member of the family, able to raise your machismo in the neighborhood should some horrid neighbor decide to bully you, able to get that gal with the long legs, able to pull some ridiculously large object that, come on now, no one needs to pull? How many more of these out of touch, slick, clever add are we going to see, when all we really want is something that won't cost us 75 freakin' dollars to fill up every week? My husband and I have already talked about it - we will never buy another gas only car. Period. The price of gas is only going to go up and to cling madly to the dream that we can continue to drive alone, from 0 - 60 in 1.2 seconds is classic American delusion. I don't want the car manufacturers to buy my gas! OMG! Does it get any more bizarre? We will pay for your gas until 2007! What? How about this, brainiac, mass produce cars that don't need gas? How about that? How about hydrogen cell cars? Those aren't some futuristic Jetson car, that's a reality. It is being used. I know that the oil companies are feeding at the trough right now and it is incredibly difficult to break in, but here's the deal. If you look at sales - people are buying cars that get good gas mileage, and if you look up searches, alternative fuel is one of the hottest right now.
And so goes Washington. Completely out of touch, talking about things that no one cares about, throwing mud at each other like feuding siblings. All the while missing the message. Out with the old, in with the new. We have had enough of all this crap. Start talking to the people, oh, I'm sorry, clarification, start talking to the rest of the people, you know the ones that can't get into your fundraisers because there are a lot more of those guys. Start figuring out that what matters to us is being secure - intelligently - not blasting at little critters in the dark willy nilly - we care about healthcare, about our economy, about our debt, about our educational system, about our minimum wage. We need people who can think, not just plot.
And as far as racial profiling goes - oi vay! How pathetic is this?
It is so ineffective.
It is so inefficient.
And it is a powerful recruitment tool for the other side.
Know your enemy.
Know that he aware of your efforts and working to circumvent them.
Get on the ball.
Stop grandstanding and get the job done for crying out loud.
This is ridiculous.
